When people think of senior photos, they often picture girls in flowing dresses with dreamy backdrops. But senior guys? They’re a different story. And as a boy mom and a photographer, I know this firsthand.
Having a boy of my own gives me a huge advantage when photographing senior guys. I get their humor, their laid-back nature, and their sometimes quiet way of communicating. This connection helps me create a senior guy session that feels comfortable, fun, and authentic.
One of the biggest challenges with senior guys is helping them relax in front of the camera. Most aren’t exactly thrilled about having their photos taken. But because I raised a son, I know how to break the ice. Whether it’s talking sports, cracking a sarcastic joke, or keeping things low-pressure, I can quickly read their energy and adjust. That’s when a senior guy session really starts to shine.
