For over a decade, I have used various locations for photographing seniors. And in the last year I have found my favorite session location that I never thought I would love. I usually like using locations that are hidden, not known, and possibly don’t require a permit fee. However, since last year I have had quite a few seniors asked to be photographed at the Mcnay Museum in San Antonio, Texas.
I wasn’t thrilled at first since it tends to get packed with visitors and the amount of photographers can get in the way of our shoot time. But the more I use it, the more I love it. It has become my new favorite location for senior photo sessions for three reasons.
3 Reasons It is My New Favorite Location
- At this one location, there are so many different vibes. In one part you get the urban vibe, another its more rustic, and the third it is all “forest” like. Seniors love that they can dress the part for each vibe and get a variety of shots to fill their gallery.
- It is my new favorite because the light is gorgeous if you truly look for it. Many photographers stick to photographing their clients in front of the museum building. Although gorgeous the light isn’t always the best. But if you walk the grounds, you can find the most amazing light where you least expect it.
- The grounds are so large that even with the number of people there, you can still forget anyone else is there with you. I’ve never had to wait for others to finish using a spot that I want to use. It is a peaceful place with no crowds.
And so, I encourage my seniors to give my new favorite location a shot! And because of all that it has to offer, the small permit fee is totally worth it!
