When I started my photography business in 2011, I set up my workspace in the corner of our home study. After a few years, I decided to set up a photography office and decorated it to fit my brand. I wanted the space to inspire me as I created the art staring back at me on my computer screen. Since then I have moved three times… which means that I have had to create an office space three times since then. Luckily, I love to decorate and paint so it doesn’t seem like a chore at all for me.
This office space is definitely my favorite! When we purchased the house, we bought it knowing that it would be my photography office. And so I already knew exactly what it would look like once I got my hands on it. The colors remind me of the brand that I have worked hard to build over the years and I am surrounded by positive artifacts that motivate me when working long hours in the space. I still haven’t finished filling the empty frames on the wall and I could use a little more storage space, but for now it is exactly what I want it to be. It looks wonderful and it feels amazing.
About My Photography Office
First, the wall is meant to showcase my art. The shelf is actually two Ikea shelves put together and painted the same bold color as the wall. I wanted to create the appearance of floating frames! The frames were painted a champagne gold color and they are slowing getting filled with images that I take.
In our old house, this gray sofa bed sat in the study and served as an extra guest room for our guests. I didn’t want to get rid of it because we may need that extra bed one day so I made it fit my vision for the room. I didn’t think that I would need it in this space, but I am glad that I kept it because sometimes while I work my family and dogs come in and sit there to keep me company. That is always nice!
This furniture piece is the color of my brand and it is one that I had in my last office. I keep all may packaging items and supplies in there so that I can access any of it at any time. I don’t have to go digging in a closet. I’ve decorated it with special decor given to me by very close friends. One of my dearest friends gifted me that old camera and it sits there to remind me that this passion is worth pursuing. I have also stored journals and books that I consistently return to when working.
My Photography Office Decor
And finally, where I sit for hours each day..my desk! My mom purchased this desk for me a few years back and I love it. I have plenty of drawers to keep all the things I need on a daily basis. I love that I have room to work and spread out without feeling crowded. And if you look closely, you will notice a note from my bonus daughter that I treasure completely and a wooden sign created by my son just for me. Above my desk are the words, “The World Needs Who You Were Made To Be.” And those words are what I see every time I sit on my comfy blue chair or when I am working long hours. Those words remind me to keep going.
