Recently I joined a circle of amazing women who have two things in common with me for sure…. we are mothers and photographers. We love our children with every ounce of us and we love to document their everyday with our camera lens. Each month we will write letters to our sons and daughters in order to document their everyday in pictures and words. Our hope is that these letters serve as an everlasting memory of their childhood.
And here is letter number five…
Dear Adri,
It feels like just yesterday I was planning your very first birthday party, but just a few weeks ago we celebrated your ninth birthday. Every year I make it a point to make your special day a memorable experience… and every year it becomes just that. On your first birthday, who could forget the big lion piñata… after all it scared you the minute we put you in front of it. And on your 2nd birthday, all your friends and family showed up at our home wearing their favorite sports jerseys for your super awesome All-star party. For your 3rd party we hung a giant Little Einsteins rocket pinata from the tree and your very own paintings along the fence. And who could forget your 5th birthday when you and your cousins dug for dinosaur bones in the sand. This year was a bit tough since being a 9 year old means that you no longer want the cute birthday parties. It was time for a BIG KID party… and what a better way than to rent a VIDEO GAME truck. You and your friends spent the entire time playing every game you could think of. The food, cake, and decorations had everything to do with video games… especially since lately that is all you want to do. It was an amazing day! My favorite part was seeing you smile.
I know that year after year we will continue to celebrate your special day… another year that I am blessed to have you in my life. And I know that the way we celebrate will change as you get older. But no matter what, I will always make it a point to make that day all about YOU!
Love,
Mommy
