letters to my son (letter 4)~ San Antonio lifestyle photographer

Recently I joined a circle of amazing women who have two things in common with me for sure…. we are mothers and photographers. We love our children with every ounce of us and we love to document their everyday with our camera lens. Each month we will write letters to our sons and daughters in order to document their everyday in pictures and words. Our hope is that these letters serve as an everlasting memory of their childhood.

And here is letter number four…

Dear Adri,

In the last year, we have gone through so many changes… more than I ever thought we both would ever have to experience.  Sometimes I can’t help but feel that you have missed out on so much… and many times I feel to blame for that.  I made a promise to myself that I would give you the moments in life that you deserve to have. I will no longer dwell on what could have been and instead focus on what I can give you now. So this month I took you somewhere that I know you would enjoy…. where else, but the “Pooch Parade.”  For a boy that loves dogs, this was heaven! The minute you found out that you would be going to a place where you would be surrounded by every kind of dog imaginable, you jumped out of bed! It didn’t matter that it was SO EARLY on a Saturday morning.  I will admit that I almost didn’t take you because I wanted to sleep in after a long work week, but I knew that this was something I wanted to experience with you.  So we made the trip to the Pooch Parade and I am so glad we did.

You spent the early morning admiring every dog that came your way… photographing those that you really liked! And I must admit, I was a proud mommy watching you take pics with my phone.  You knew almost every dog breed that you saw in the parade.  I can tell that you have researched dogs more than any other kid I know.  And of course you made a new friend… a Shitzu named Sadie.  Once that pooch entered your life, you never left its side.  As a matter of fact, you wanted to take her home .  I did too!

I am forever grateful for this experience with you and I can’t wait for the next one.  Seeing you smile all morning long made me the happiest mommy in the world!

Love you,

Mommy
