Recently I joined a circle of amazing women who have two things in common with me for sure…. we are mothers and photographers. We love our children with every ounce of us and we love to document their everyday with our camera lens. Each month we will write letters to our sons and daughters in order to document their everyday in pictures and words. Our hope is that these letters serve as an everlasting memory of their childhood.
And here is letter number two…
Dear little one,
Not too long ago, you asked me a very serious, grown up question. I still remember exactly the way you managed to ask it… “mommy, can I ask you something? I don’t know how to say this… why don’t I have a brother or a sister?” Your words, although calm and sincere, hit me like a ton of bricks. That one sentence touched my heart in more ways than I can ever try to explain. I don’t quite remember exactly what I said in response to what you asked, but I do know that whatever I said was enough to make you smile.
I have thought a lot about that question… often, too much. And although I don’t have one single answer, I do know that I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love our outings together to the local yogurt shop… gives us time to chat about our day. I enjoy working alongside YOU… both of us working without saying a word but knowing that we are only an arm’s length away. Summer days are all about you and I… spending time at the pool, pajama days at home, and lunch dates at our favorite restaurants.
Everything I do is for you… ONLY YOU. And although I don’t know what the future holds for us, I do know that I am grateful for the 8 years I was able to spend only with YOU. I love you, Adri. You are my everything. You are my happy.
