When I was a little girl, I lived in this state of worry and fear all the time! Y’all I would hold on tightly to my mother’s dress when we were at the grocery store or a shopping mall and i never let go…not even kidding. I don’t actually know where that came from or why i seemed to navigate this world in that state of mind. I often wonder if there was one single moment in my short little life that scared me into being that way or if I was just made to be that way. It wasn’t until I was older that I began to take risks and do things i never thought i could.
I know that if it wasn’t for my parents, my family and my friends believing in me and constantly encouraging me to go for it all.. to try things and do things that I wished I could do I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I probably wouldn’t be writing this blog post or even own a photography business. I mean who would have thought that the little girl that was afraid to let go of her mom’s dress would be doing this right now. But I am here. I am doing it!
And so if you have a daughter, if you have a hand in raising a little girl, if you are a mentor to someone like me… Lift her up! Let her try new things. Encourage her to put that fear aside when going after something. Give her the courage she needs to live the life she dreams of and you have to LET HER FLY!
