Recently I joined a circle of amazing women who have two things in common with me for sure…. we are mothers and photographers. We love our children with every ounce of us and we love to document their everyday with our camera lens. Each month we will write letters to our sons and daughters in order to document their everyday in pictures and words. Our hope is that these letters serve as an everlasting memory of their childhood.

And here is letter number nine…

Dear Adri,

I thought long and hard about what I wanted to write to you this month.  I thought of the message I wanted to send… the words I wanted you to hear. I hoped to write something that in some way would inspire you or teach you something that would help you in some way or another.  But as hard as I tried to come up with the words I wanted to write, the only thought that came to mind was this…. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!

I am proud of all that you do…

… for the straight A’s you brought home on your progress report this past week.

… for the hours you spent cutting up fraction strips so that I could have them ready for school the next day.

… for the times that you choose to be kind to someone, even if they choose not to be kind to you.

… for choosing to eat VEGETABLES at a birthday party instead of the delicious nachos or hamburgers being served.

… for cleaning up after yourself even when I don’t ask you to.

… for understanding when you don’t get your way and for taking care of your puppy each and every day.

… for standing on the sidewalk long enough for me to try out my new lens.

… for knowing what the word TOPIARY means and using it to title your very own art piece.

I am proud of you for just being YOU!

 I am a very proud mommy! I have a wonderful boy who is growing up so fast before my eyes… I can’t wait to see what else you will accomplish as you grow up.
