I started writing tonight expecting to tell you all about this lovely girl and her dog.

But then after looking at these images one more time, I began to think more about Emmie the dog.  You see I have been reading a lot lately about how to heal from losing a pet.  If you have been following me recently you know that we lost our little Snowball unexpectedly last month.  You can read all about that here.  And so the books that I am reading are told in a dog’s perspective and y’all I have cried, laughed, and smiled reading those books.

And so as I look at these images again all I think about is what Emmie is thinking in this very moment… and I think she is saying…

“I love this girl so much.  I love when we play together and when she throws that little stick out in the grass so that I can fetch it.  And I especially like to see her smile when I bring it back.  I love sitting here with her as she pets me and squeezes me like she does.  And every day I wait for her to come home so that I can spend time with her like we do.  I will never leave her side.”

One day, she will be all grown up and my hope is that she will look at these images of herself with her Emmie and remember that wonderful feeling she felt the day she snuggled and played with her Emmie in the middle of that field. that is my hope.
